From Mother to Son, Local Food is Making an Impact! ūü•ē

Alexie became a proponent for locally grown fruits and vegetables after experiencing the difference in their quality, taste and freshness. When Community Harvest relaunched earlier this year as a food subscription service, she was among the very first customers to subscribe!

“I love that Community Harvest is focused on community and accessibility,” she said.¬†“Getting a variety of healthy foods that fit into my budget is super important to my family.”

Thanks to Alexie, her¬†4-year-old son¬†is equally excited about healthy food! At home, he loves to be¬†assigned a “job” in their kitchen or backyard garden and¬†is always eager¬†to see what new fresh food is included in their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) box from No More Empty Pots. Last week, he¬†was especially excited about the green beans but carrots still remain his favorite veggie.

Alexie uses her Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funds to purchase her Community Harvest subscription. She is passionate about sharing her story to ensure other families know they too can afford high quality, fresh produce through programs like Community Harvest.

Subscription for both CSA boxes and prepared meals are available for purchase including through SNAP. Double Up Food Bucks even offers a dollar-for-dollar SNAP match for the CSAs, which Alexie says has allowed her to expand her food budget, effectively reducing the SNAP payment she owes in half!

Purchase your own recurring subscription to Community Harvest and join the community of neighbors like Alexie passionate about local and seasonal foods! Individuals, families, companies and groups are all welcome to subscribe.

Co-create access to healthy affordable food for all by¬†sponsoring subscriptions for neighbors through our “pay it forward” initiative called Mad Love.

If financial support would help you and your household, our team will identify funding to healthy local food options including Community Harvest subscription at no cost to you.
