No More Empty Pots is Here With You

Over the last month, No More Empty Pots has partnered with community organizations and connected with individuals and families to support food security needs during the COVID-19 pandemic with the Community Harvest Feeding Our Neighbors Program.

Each week, we check in with local producers to see what’s in season and in stock. When the fresh produce arrives, staff and volunteers prepare the produce for cooking. Executing the cooking of the meals sometimes means using the stove and oven. Other times, it means using a 40-gallon steam-jacketed kettle! Once the food has cooked and cooled, it is packaged and sealed by hand in microwave and oven safe containers. Partner organizations support the logistics of delivery to ensure that the meals make it to the doorstep of our neighbors.

If you or someone you know is in need of immediate food support, complete the Feeding Our Neighbors registration form at bit.ly/nmepfon or email communityharvest@nmepomaha.org.

With the support of our amazing donors, we have the capacity to deliver on 7,000 meals!

Our focus is on feeding people now and supporting a change in the system so that our  along with our most vulnerable neighbors we all have what we want to feed ourselves beyond this crisis.

No More Empty Pots will continue to have suspended programming through May 31st and will continue to monitor changes with COVID-19 so that we can resume programming in the safest way possible for the community and staff.

In preparation for summer, we’re working on new culinary, gardening and stem programming for all ages, the Rooftop Garden has been filled with soil and ready for planting and you can expect to see more community centered engagement in Cups Café at Florence.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to get involved in more advocacy, distributing more food and providing more education to support a thriving community.

In addition to prepared meals, you can now get fresh, locally sourced produce each week through the Community Harvest CSA. Receive your CSA Box on a weekly basis. One box will make at least one meal for a family of four. Learn about the produce, where it comes from, who produces it and a recipe for you to try at home!
