Roma Tomatoes, Ratatouille and a Movie Under the Stars!

 

This week marks the end of Tomatoes being the Harvest of the Month and we are sending them off with a bang! The delicious Roma tomatoes from Wolff Farms in this week's CSA is a perfect ingredient for the playfully delicious Ratatouille! Speaking of having fun, No More Empty Pots is hosting a movie night tomorrow September, 27th on our Rooftop Garden at our Food Hub in Florence. There will be snacks and drinks inspired by the classic, as well as plenty of laughter. Read further to get the details about this epic event! Rooftop Movie Night: Ratatouille - An evening of food, fun, and film under the stars!

Join us for a magical evening on our Rooftop Garden as we host a family-friendly movie night featuring the beloved Disney-Pixar film Ratatouille. This event is designed to bring together food lovers of all ages for a hands-on, immersive culinary experience followed by a cozy outdoor screening.

Before the movie begins, both kids and adults will have the chance to dive into our interactive snack stations — inspired by scenes and characters from the film! Guests can mix and match ingredients to craft their own custom creations while learning a bit about food, flavor, and fun.

Featured Snacks Include: Ratatouille Mini Pies – A tasty twist on the classic French dish, served in bite-sized form, perfect for little hands and big appetites. Trash Can Popcorn Bar – Inspired by Remy’s inventive spirit, this station features a mix of sweet, salty, and savory toppings to create your own popcorn masterpiece. “Rat-Juice” Beverage Station – Take a refreshing break during intermission with our fun misting juice spritz, served just the way a Parisian rat might dream it up.

As the sun sets, cozy up with a blanket and settle in for the movie. Whether you're reliving a favorite classic or watching Ratatouille for the first time, this is a night for laughter, connection, and the joy of shared experiences — all with a dash of culinary creativity.

Make your own Ratatouille!

Ingredients

  • 1-2  zucchini (thinly sliced)
  • 1-2  yellow summer squash (thinly sliced)
  • 1 medium eggplant (thinly sliced)
  • 2 roma tomatoes (thinly sliced)
  • 1 cup tomato purée
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 1 bell pepper (red, orange, yellow)
  • 3-5 cloves garlic
  • 1/2  bunch fresh thyme
  • 1/2  bunch fresh basil
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 F. 
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium high heat in non-stick pan
  3. Add onion and garlic and cook until tender 
  4. Add tomato puree and seasonings, simmer for 15 minutes. 
  5. After the sauce thickens, pour into a 2 quart baking dish. 
  6. Arrange the sliced vegetables in a circular pattern standing upright in the dish over the sauce. 
  7. Brush with the remaining olive oil. 
  8. Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake until vegetables are tender. 
  9. Serve immediately.
