Sauteed Fiddleheads

A rare gem landed in the CSA’s (Community Supported Agriculture) this week, Fiddlehead Ferns! These curly bits of fern plants make a great side dish to any meal. 

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Bring a saucepan of water to a boil. 
  2. In the meantime, wash ferns. 
  3. Peel off any brown pieces, and soak in a water bath. 
  4. Drain, and repeat the water bath. 
  5. Once water is boiling, add ferns. 
  6. Cook for 10-15 minutes, then drain. 
  7. In a large frying pan, heat up oil and butter. 
  8. Add garlic and fiddleheads while cooking over medium heat.
  9. Stir in the other ingredients and cook for another few minutes. 
  10. Serve.
