No More Empty Cups Closing FAQ

In May 2015, No More Empty Pots assumed management of the coffee shop at the CO2 Building and began service as No More Empty Cups. We have learned a lot on this journey and are grateful for your being right there with us. Thank you so much for the many ways you have supported the cafe. We appreciate you!

Our goal was to be a welcoming and inclusive space for the local community while serving local products and highlighting entrepreneurs. While we did that, we believe we can serve you better, and we’ve got a plan to do so!

We are closing the cafe temporarily in January 2019.

We’ve partnered with expert cafe managers, generous donors and dedicated community stakeholders to bring about major improvements and provide you with more of what you love in a neighborhood cafe, and so we are excited to introduce you to:

FAQ:

  • Why are you closing?
    • We want to serve you better and offer you more of what you love in a neighborhood cafe. More specialty coffee. More delicious food. More hospitality. More community.
    • Suggestions & Questions box for community at NMEC until December 31st.
  • When are you closing?
    • December 31, 2018 will be our last day open as NMEC.
  • When will you re-open?
    • In February! Hopefully in time for Valentines Day.
  • Will my gift card still be valid at the new place??
    • If possible, we encourage you to redeem your gift card now, as we may change our Point of Sale system. If not, we will do our best to honor the gift card once we re-open.
  • Will the CO2 room still be available to book?
    • Yes. You can continue to rent the space through the online portal.
    • Drip coffee will be available upon request.  
  • How will this be different?
    • Will continue to support the mission of No More Empty Pots in supporting communities in becoming self-sufficient and food secure.
    • Cups Cafe will be a combination of all the best parts of what No More Empty Cups – its mission to serve the community and a place to meet – while improving on the areas it needed it most, an update coffee menu, improved food menu, more engaging hospitality, and a more comfortable, welcoming space.
