Anna at the Washington Branch Library of the Omaha Public Library system is a real asset.  She was looking for someone to deliver a cooking demonstration for one of the many library programs at the Washington Branch. With the date getting closer and closer without a chef, No More Empty Pots stepped in to help. That was two years ago and since then we have delivered quarterly cooking demonstrations related to a theme at the library.

No More Empty Pots has great teachers delivering cooking sessions. Our June session featured Michelle Dill of Big Green Tomato. Michelle has great recipes that are gluten and allergen free. At the library, they are always kid friendly. In June, the featured recipe was Energy Bites.  All of the ingredients cost around $10 and made three batches. She made over 100 energy bites that day and every single one was eaten. Parent, kid, and adult patrons enjoyed these nutritious treats.

Michelle engaged kid helpers at each stage of mixing and measuring. The library did a great job advertising. Anna had to pull out more chairs to accommodate all of the participants.  And related library books were displayed for checkout by patrons. This session was one of our most popular to date.

Enjoy the slideshow which includes the recipe. The energy bites can be made ahead and frozen for later use. Thanks to Michelle and Anna for an amazing library program activity.
