Prairie Plate Farm Tour | Common Good Farm

Evrett Lunquist and Ruth Chantry Common Good Farm

Common Good Farm, a mom & pop family farm Located in Raymond, Nebraska, is run by Evrett Lundquist and Ruth Chantry. Driven by their desire to improve access to nutritious food, Evrett and Ruth are committed to sustaining their farm in a way that provides delicious, healthful food for their community & neighbors; they tend the soil, grow the food, and love the land. All aspects of their farm — animals, plants, soil — work together to create the whole “farmscape”, with each part serving the whole in multiple ways. What sets Common Good Farm apart from other farms in Nebraska is that their farm is a certified organic & certified Biodynamic®/Demeter farm – one of about 150 certified Biodynamic farms in the United States.

Prior to farming in Nebraska, Evrett and Ruth worked on a community farm/CSA in Wisconsin and Evrett worked on market farms in Minnesota. As Ruth hails from Omaha, their commitment to Nebraska runs long and deep. The inspiration to farm biodynamically stemmed from their experiences with observing plants as living things, not merely as passive recipients of soil-based nutrients. With Biodynamics, farming is about creating a whole farm as a vibrant entity through the farmers’ impulses.

Common Good Farm also focuses on Community Supported Agriculture, offering a 12-week Summer CSA and a singled harvest Fall Harvest Share of larger quantities. CSA members also join in for potlucks, field days and use their lending library. Furthermore, Common Good Farm offers specialty workshops with discounts for members; for example, garlic braiding or natural/herbal tincture making or birding.
